A tale of magic, death and falsehood
A review of MORE WEIGHT
By Ryan Isaacson
Around the fall especially here in the united states we all become enamored with Halloween! Enticed by the candy, spooky stories and of course the monsters. From the werewolf to ghouls and from vampires to ghosts but there is one that also has a spot in history. And that entity itself is as they call it “the season of the witch”!
This story takes us all the way back to early/late 1500s when the beginning colonies are recovering from war and food, supplies and safety are in high demand but short supply. We find Thomas Putnam Jr who begins the cog of events that lead to the church assuming power and brandishing complete sovereign rule over the town with a promise that god will smite the evil! But what happens when a couple of girls with the main girl Abigail and some help from a poor enslaved girl Tituba begin to confess and use the notoriety to falsify who did the dance with the devil?
This book has come out at the best time as I have always been a big fan of history in my comics and graphic novels. This book does an amazing job and creating a suspenseful yet informed and entertaining view of a dark time in US history. Just enough information was provided with many extras to really give you a feel of what was happening. The best part was it wraps up the story with an ending of hope and of warning also!
I cannot begin to tell you how stunning this book is and is a great tool for all teachers, collectors and practitioners of the occult!
